Who We Serve
At The Doctor Patient Forum, we serve everyone affected by harmful opioid policies. This includes patients, families, providers, policymakers, and allies. Our mission is threefold: to offer community so no one has to face this alone, to provide resources that support patients and families, and to serve as a trusted source for the latest news, policy updates, and study breakdowns.
Patients Living With Pain & Those Needing Opioid Access
We stand with all people who need pain treatment, including opioid access, whether you are a “legacy” patient who has been on long-term opioid therapy for years, a new chronic pain patient navigating treatment for the first time, or someone with acute pain from trauma, surgery, sickle cell disease, or cancer. This includes people with a history of substance use disorder and those on MOUD, because everyone deserves access to safe, compassionate, and effective care.
Families & Caregivers
We recognize the toll bad policy takes on families. Loved ones often shoulder the burden when patients lose access to care, whether that means managing crises at home, navigating a broken system, or grieving preventable loss. We provide resources, community, and advocacy tools so you’re not alone.
Healthcare Providers
Doctors, nurses, and clinicians face enormous pressure to practice medicine in fear, fearing regulators, lawsuits, or even the DEA. We support providers who want to do right by their patients, offering education, advocacy resources, and a network that pushes back against stigma and misinformation.
Policymakers & Media
We engage directly with policymakers, regulators, and journalists to ensure they understand the lived consequences of opioid policy. By providing research, testimony, and patient stories, we keep the truth in front of decision-makers and help shape a more balanced conversation.
Advocates & Allies
We work alongside patient advocates, legal experts, researchers, and allies who share our belief that pain patients deserve dignity and access to care, which includes prescription opioids.
No matter who you are, a patient, loved one, provider, policymaker, or ally, if you’ve been affected by forced tapers, patient abandonment, or barriers to opioid access, DPF is here for you.
